CLEVELAND -- Cecil Shorts came home and broke some hearts. A Cleveland kid who grew up rooting for the Browns, Shorts caught a 20-yard touchdown pass from Chad Henne with 40 seconds left, rallying the Jacksonville Jaguars to a 32-28 win on Sunday. On third-and-9, Henne lofted a perfect pass to the left corner for Shorts, who had beaten cornerback Joe Haden. Shorts got both feet down in the end zone before tumbling out of bounds. It was a dream moment for Shorts, who earlier this week talked about the excitement of returning to play in front of family members and friends. As a kid, his father raised him to support the local teams. "Im all Cleveland -- Browns, Indians, Cavaliers," he said. "Thats all I knew growing up." Hes added another entry to the citys pained sports history. Henne drove the Jaguars (3-9) 80 yards in nine plays for the winning TD as Jacksonville continued its stunning turnaround after losing its first eight games, all by at least 10 points. The Jaguars are 3-1 since their bye with all three victories on the road. Before Shorts catch, it appeared Browns beleaguered quarterback Brandon Weeden was going to shake off a rough afternoon. He had given the Browns (4-8) a 28-25 lead with a 95-yard TD pass to Josh Gordon with 3:55 left. Gordon returned from a head injury and finished 10 catches for a team record 261 yards. Hes the first player in NFL history to have consecutive 200-yard games. He had 237 in a loss last week against Pittsburgh, and Gordon has 1,249 yards this season despite missing two games with a drug suspension. Still, Henne marched the Jaguars downfield to win it. Jacksonville stopped Clevelands final chance by batting down a desperation pass by Weeden into the end zone. Josh Scobee kicked three field goals for the Jaguars. Down 21-20 and their offence doing nothing, the Jaguars took the lead when Browns centre Alex Mack snapped the ball over Weedens head into the end zone and the QB kicked it out of bounds for a safety. Weeden, back in the starting lineup because Jason Campbell has a concussion, finished 24 of 40 for 370 yards with three TDs and two interceptions -- both coming in the final 2:35 of the first half. A team spokesman said Weeden was diagnosed with a concussion following the game after reporting symptoms. Because of the head injury, Weeden did not speak with reporters. Henne went 24 of 40 for 195 yards and two TDs for the Jaguars. Jacksonville running back Maurice Jones-Drew ran for 77 yards and threw an 8-yard TD pass to Marcedes Lewis in the second quarter. Gordon left briefly in the third quarter after sustaining a head injury while trying to make a leaping catch. Safety Winston Guy knocked off Gordons helmet. Gordons head snapped back and he appeared to bang it as he landed on the hard ground. Guy was penalized for an illegal hit. Gordon walked to the sideline without any help, was examined on the bench and escorted to the locker room for further evaluation. He returned to a large ovation in the final minute of the quarter and caught a 10-yard pass on his first play back. A few plays after Gordon went out, Weeden connected with Greg Little for a 4-yard TD to put the Browns ahead 21-20. Weeden fell apart late in the second period, throwing the two picks and getting stripped of the ball as the Jaguars converted three turnovers into 13 quick points to take a 20-14 halftime lead. Until his meltdown, Weeden had looked sharp for most of the opening half. He connected with Gordon on a 21-yard TD for a 14-7 lead early in the second quarter. The Jaguars tied it when Jones-Drew took a pitch to the right and lobbed his scoring pass to Lewis. Weeden targeted Gordon on nearly every play as Jacksonvilles young secondary struggled to handle the 6-foot-3, 225-pounder, who has emerged as a rising NFL star. Willis McGahees 1-yard TD run gave the Browns a 7-0 lead, but the Jaguars responded with Hennes 18-yard scoring toss to tight end Clay Harbor. cheapjerseyswholesale.top . - The numbers keep climbing — and this time the rise was anything but gradual. www.cheapjerseyswholesale.top . -- League scoring leader Anthony Mantha had two goals and two assists to lead the Val-dOr Foreurs over the Blainville-Boisbriand Phoenix 6-3 on Wednesay in Quebec Major Junior Hockey League play on Wednesday. http://www.cheapjerseyswholesale.top/ . The 62-year-old Hoeness, one of the most powerful figures in German soccer, was initially charged with dodging 3.5 million euros ($4.85 million) in taxes through the Swiss account. But when his trial opened Monday he admitted to avoiding 15 million euros more. Then it came out through an examination of documents he provided to investigators shortly before the trial that he owed 27.2 million euros in total — a number Hoeness did not dispute. Hoeness had faced up to 10 years in prison, and the sentence came between the 5 1/2 years suggested by the prosecution and the defences plea for probation, based on the fact that he had turned himself in for tax evasion and provided details to the court, the dpa news agency reported. Following the verdict, defence attorney Hanns Feigen said he would appeal the decision to see how a higher court would value Hoeness "not ideal" confession. He added that he was convinced the appeals court would come to a "better result" than the Munich state court did. Hoeness will remain free on bail pending the outcome of the appeal. German authorities have been cracking down on tax evaders in recent years, and have recovered hundreds of millions of euros. Their widely-publicized purchase of leaked account information on thousands of investors, as well as high-profile cases such as that against Hoeness and former Deutsche Post AG CEO Klaus Zumwinkel, has led to thousands of people turning themselves in. Hoeness, who also is part owner of a Nuremberg sausage factory, reported himself to the tax authorities last April — around the same ttime that German media were investigating reports of high-profile tax evaders.dddddddddddd News of the case against the national icon prompted even Chancellor Angela Merkels spokesman to weigh in and say the countrys leader was disappointed in him. As a player, Hoeness was a Bayern star who won the 1972 European Championship and the 1974 World Cup with West Germany and three straight European Cups — the predecessor of the Champions League — before retiring in 1979 with chronic knee problems. He became the Bundesligas youngest coach when he was 27. Bayern has been enjoying unprecedented success under Hoeness presidency. The club stood by him during the investigation, and its supervisory board was expected to meet following the verdict to see what steps to take next. Bayern Munich said it would issue a statement later Thursday. In three decades as manager and president of Bayern, Hoeness conducted a prudent financial policy that left the club not only without debts but with a fat bank account. Hoeness refused to spend lavishly on foreign superstars but brought in the best of German talent. In recent years, Bayern started spending more on players and the result was its first treble last season, when it won the Champions League, the Bundesliga and the German Cup. The club is on course to win the Bundesliga again — perhaps even undefeated — and could become the first team to defend the Champions League title. Bayern could accomplish the treble again. Hoeness was also instrumental in signing coach Pep Guardiola. With three "strategic partners" — Adidas, Audi and Allianz, which each have an 8.33-per cent stake in the club — Bayern has some of Germanys best known companies behind it. The club has also paid off its stadium.
